How to Colour Your Life and Find Yourself

A picture is worth a thousand words! Imagine being able to portray your life with all its ups and downs, difficulties, obstacles, pleasures, joys, past, present and future anytime you like to spend a little time with a sheet of paper, some coloured crayons and yourself. You do not have to have any artistic ability or experience.

How many of us actually spend time with just ourselves getting to know who we really are, what we really want out of life, what we think about the way our life is turning out. It is so easy to find we are doing what someone else expects of us. Walking their path instead of our own. I do not mean this in a selfish way but yet in a self centred way. For an hour or so put yourself at the centre of your world and see what radiates out like the spokes of a wheel. It is surprising what this can reveal.

Life is full of colour. Nature is full of colour, and though you may not realise it, your thoughts are full of colour.

Give yourself a little time with your imagination each day. When you meet someone imagine what colour they suggest to you. Are they very energetic and could be described as red or orange? Maybe they have an aura of calmness and stillness around them and could be visualised as blue or green. How do you feel about a task you have to accomplish? Is the task surrounded with yellow or white or maybe you feel it is brown or black and something you would rather not do.

Life today can be very stressful and far too rushed. It is easy to let tension and even resentment build up, ultimately precipitating illness of one kind or another. Intuitive Art is one way in which to reach your deeper self and inner wisdom so that the day to day to day to day process of living in the 21st century does not overwhelm you.

Try to form the habit of visualising your feelings and emotions in colour and see what they are telling you about your life. As we travel through these pages I will give you some tools to use to put your life on paper so that you may examine it. After a little practice you can have fun in any spare minutes, doodling and interpreting the result, and experiencing just how powerful this process is.
